Raisel Iglesias got a win after allowing only one unearned run between the 10th and 11th innings Sunday as the Braves edged the Blue Jays 4-3.

Iglesias stranded the automatic runner in the 10th to maintain a 2-2 tie. He couldn’t do it again in the 11th, but the Braves (really the Blue Jays defense) picked him up with two runs in the bottom of the inning. It’s another standout effort from Iglesias, who has five wins to go along with his 31 saves. He’s pitched five times in seven days, so he should be due Monday off, perhaps leading to a save chance for Pierce Johnson.

ATL Starting Pitcher #51

Chris Sale shut out the Blue Jays for six innings and struck out seven in a no-decision Sunday.

Sale would likely cruise to the Cy Young even if he didn’t make another start this year. He was denied a 17th win today, but he lowered his ERA to a major league-best 2.38. In passing the 162-inning threshold (he’s at 166 2/3 innings now), he’s going to qualify for the ERA title for the first time since 2017, when he led the AL in ERA and strikeouts but deservedly finished second to Corey Kluber in the Cy balloting.
AJ Smith-Shawver

ATL Relief Pitcher #32

A.J. Smith-Shawver fanned 11 while allowing four runs in seven innings for Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.

A Wes Clarke grand slam ruined Smith-Shawver’s ERA for the day, but the 21-year-old right-hander excelled otherwise. With a 3.42 ERA in his last four starts, he’s adding to his case for a callup if the Braves have need of another starter.

ATL Third Baseman #65

Luke Williams drove in two runs while going 2-for-4 in a loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Williams doubled home a pair in the ninth to make it a 9-4 game. Still counts. The 28-year-old could be starting games for Atlanta with the Whit Merrifield injury, but the team did just trade for Cavan Biggio, and Williams hasn’t shown he can hit nearly well enough to be considered a potential reliable fantasy contributor.
Spencer Schwellenbach

ATL Starting Pitcher #56

Spencer Schwellenbach allowed six runs — three earned — over five innings in a loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Schwellenbach was hurt by his defense, but also hurt by the long ball as he gave up two homers in the contest. The Blue Jays were aggressive against the 24-year-old as he didn’t walk anyone, threw 56-of-72 pitches for strikes and struck out just three times. It’s a disappointing outing considering how the Blue Jays have pitched and his solid outing against the Phillies on Sunday, but it could have been worse. He’d be more risk than reward as a streamer next weekend against the Dodgers.
Cavan Biggio

ATL Second Baseman #6

Braves acquired INF/OF Cavan Biggio from the Giants for cash considerations.

Biggio was signed by the Giants after he was designated for assignment and refused an outright assignment to Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 29-year-old will be able to potentially help Atlanta in the regular season, but Atlanta will need to do some finagling to get him on a playoff roster since he wasn’t in the organization before August 31. There’s no fantasy upside here even if Biggio were to play every game.
Whit Merrifield

ATL Second Baseman #15

Whit Merrifield was found to have a fracture after fouling a pitch off left foot Friday, but he’s hoping to return in about a week.

It’ll take longer than that for the fracture to heal, but it might be something he can play through in the meantime. Merrifield, who has been filling in for Ozzie Albies at second base, is hitting .243/.359/.342 in 34 games since joining the Braves. Luke Williams will step in for now, and the team could consider giving Nacho Alvarez Jr. a recall and a longer look.
Max Fried

ATL Starting Pitcher #54

Max Fried didn’t allow an earned run and struck out eight over seven innings in a 3-1 victory over the Blue Jays on Friday.

Fried was in control for this entire outing. The only run he gave up came after an error by Orlando Arcia, fielder’s choice, and an RBI groundout. Otherwise, the Blue Jays had trouble sustaining any sort of rally. He was deep in his bag showing seven total pitches, used six of those seven as the first pitch of an at-bat, and forced a swing-and-miss with five of them. Just a wily veteran going out there keeping the other guys guessing. Fried is scheduled to face the Nationals on the road in his next start.
Raisel Iglesias

ATL Relief Pitcher #26

Raisel Iglesias allowed two hits and struck out three in his lone inning of work to earn the save on Friday against the Blue Jays.

Iglesias did well to work around two hits and close this one out. Overall, he has been downright nasty this season. He hasn’t allowed an earned run since June 16th and has a 37.6 K% since then. He’s having one of the best seasons of his entire career and looks like one of the most dominant relievers in baseball right now.
Jorge Soler

ATL Right Fielder #2

Jorge Soler went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, and a run scored on Friday against the Blue Jays.

This was Soler’s first game not hitting either first or second since being acquired by the Braves. And that made sense too since you have to get, checks notes, Whit Merrifield into the two-hole. Nevertheless, Soler scalded his double 110.5 MPH and has an .835 OPS since the All-Star break after dragging his feet through the first half.
