According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, the Bulls have signed E.J. Liddell to a contract.

Selected by the Pelicans with the 41st overall pick in the 2022 draft, Liddell has yet to get his NBA career off the ground. An ACL tear suffered during summer league play robbed him of the 2022-23 campaign, and he was limited to eight appearances with the Pelicans this past season. Liddell was traded twice during the summer, first to Atlanta as part of the Dejounte Murray deal and then to Phoenix in exchange for David Roddy. The Suns waived Liddell on August 21. With Liddell likely on an Exhibit 10 contract and the Bulls having 14 players on guaranteed deals, he faces long odds to make the opening night roster.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Bulls have signed Talen Horton-Tucker to a partially guaranteed deal.

After spending the last two seasons in Utah, the Chicago native is reportedly headed home. Horton-Tucker appeared in 51 games for the Jazz last season, averaging 10.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 0.9 steals, and 1.2 3-pointers in 19.8 minutes. THT made 11 starts for Utah, and he’ll likely take on a reserve role if he can lock down a roster spot with the Bulls. Horton-Tucker is not a player fantasy managers should plan on drafting, especially with Josh Giddey, Coby White, and Ayo Dosunmu on the roster.

Lonzo Ball said in a brief interview with TMZ that fans can expect to see him on the court during the 2024-25 season.

Ball, who last appeared in an NBA game in 2022, said in late July that he would begin 5-on-5 work sometime in August. While he did not offer any details during his brief chat with TMZ, the Bulls point guard did say that his recovery was “going well.” As for his status for the upcoming season, Ball said that fans can expect to see him playing. When that will be is up in the air, and the Bulls front office has appeared to operate under the assumption that he will be limited at best. With the emergence of Coby White last season and the addition of Josh Giddey, Ball may not be worth the risk as a late-round roll of the dice in fantasy leagues.

Kenneth Lofton Jr. has agreed to a one-year deal with the Bulls, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Charania’s report includes that Lofton will compete for a spot during training camp, which likely means that this isn’t a guaranteed deal. If he doesn’t make their final roster, he’ll likely suit up with their G-League affiliate this upcoming season and could be a silly season hero if Chicago is out of the playoff race.

Drell played in just four games for the Chicago Bulls last season and doesn’t seem likely to make the Trail Blazers’ final roster.

Josh Giddey finished Tuesday’s loss to Serbia with 25 points, five rebounds, four assists and three triples across 33 minutes.

Giddey was superb in Olympic play, despite his team’s exit in the quarterfinals. Chicago brass is surely hopeful that Giddey will play at this level next season for his new team. The 6’8 floor general is projected to be the Bulls’ starting PG for the 2024-25 campaign.

Josh Giddey finished Australia’s Tuesday matchup against Canada with 19 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and three 3-pointers in a 93-83 loss.

Giddey stuffed the stat sheet again while continuing to knock down outside shots. He’s operated as Australia’s lead facilitator so far during the Olympics and hasn’t slacked off in the scoring department. His international play could help him bring more confidence on offense into 2024-25.

Josh Giddey posted a full line on Saturday with 17 points (7-of-12 FGs), eight rebounds, eight assists, two 3-pointers and five turnovers in a 92-80 win over Spain.

After a down season with the Thunder, Giddey will get a fresh start with Chicago this upcoming season. Before that happens, Giddey will represent Australia in the Olympics, where he has started off well. He played well in the scrimmages, and he nearly recorded a triple-double in their first game of this Olympics. He’ll continue to play an instrumental role in helping Australia in their quest for a gold medal.

Lonzo Ball said on his podcast that he intends to begin 5-on-5 work in August.

Ball said in May that he intends to be available to start next season, but next month should be a good indicator of his exact timeline. He said that participating in 5-on-5 will be his “first real test”, but that everything in his recovery has been going well recently. They’ll likely keep him on a strict load management plan, and he will compete with Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu and Josh Giddey for minutes in the backcourt.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that DJ Steward has signed a two-way deal with the Bulls.

After going undrafted in 2021, Steward has yet to appear in an NBA game. He’s spent the entirety of his professional career in the G League, but he’ll get a shot to make his league debut for the rebuilding Bulls. Steward has averaged 19.3 points per game in the 2024 Las Vegas Summer League, including a 37-point performance on Friday.
