  • LAA Starting Pitcher #36
This should have been even worse, considering that Dana was pulled with the bases loaded and none out in the second. However, Ryan Zeferjahn managed to strand all three runners. Dana’s 27 fastballs today produced 13 swings and no misses. He gave up one homer on that pitch and two more on sliders. It was as bad of an outing as his debut a week ago was good. The Angels figure to stick with him and use him against Houston next weekend.
  • LAA Third Baseman #23
Drury’s hitting streak was about as weak as he gets — he went 7-for-22 with no extra-base hits, no RBI and one walk during the six games — but it’s still one of his season highlights. Drury’s horrible offensive performance this year would stand out even if he were normally horrible. But that a guy who had a 118 OPS+ over the previous three seasons is at 33 or so right now is incredible. He’s hit .167/.245/.221 in 314 plate appearances. He has 13 runs batted in. Thirteen! Last year, he missed the entire month of July and still had 83.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #62
The Angels are going with Hans Crouse as a bullpen option, so Mederos will head to Triple-A. There’s a slim chance he could be back for Los Angeles before the end of the campaign.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #52
Crouse will be back to provide some middle-inning help for the Halos. The 25-year-old has pitched well with a 3.00 ERA in his 24 innings over 24 appearances thus far.
  • LAA Right Fielder #3
Ward’s home run was his 22nd of the season. He hit a solo shot off Jack Leiter to leadoff the game in the first inning. It’s his fourth home run in six games in September so far. Ward is hitting .243 with a .744 OPS and 65 RBI this year.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #31
Anderson gave up one hit, walked two and struck out seven. Wyatt Langford reached on an error to start the fifth inning before Anderson walked Nathaniel Lowe. Both runners came around to score on Ezequiel Duran’s double, which was the only hit Anderson allowed. The win was his 11th of the year. Anderson has a 3.50 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 132 strikeouts in 167 1/3 innings this year. The 34-year-old left-hander is set to face the Astros at home next week.
  • LAA Center Fielder #39
Adams, 24, will be making his season debut after hitting .261/.333/.719 with 10 homers, 28 steals and 148 strikeouts in 549 plate appearances for Salt Lake. His major league debut came last year, but it was pretty forgettable; he hit .128/.125/.128 in 40 plate appearances. He should see time in both center and right the rest of the way, but his chances of offering any fantasy value in deeper leagues took a hit with Bryce Teodosio also joining the Angels today.
  • LAA Outfielder
Teodosio, 25, is a Clemson product who has turned into a solid player after going undrafted three years ago. He was hitting .276/.339/.418 with five homers and 40 steals for Salt Lake this season, which is a better line than what fellow callup Jordyn Adams amassed. Both are right-handed hitters, so it’s hard to say exactly how they’ll share time in place of Jo Adell, though both could play against lefties. Teodosio seems more worthy of the bulk of the at-bats.
  • LAA Left Fielder #7
It was irritation last night. Now that it’s being termed a strain, we imagine Adell will miss the rest of the season. Kevin Pillar (thumb) landed on the IL as well, so it’ll be the newly recalled Jordyn Adams and Bryce Teodosio filling in for Adell. Both are speedsters with big questions about their bats. If it was just one or the other, they might be worth picking up for cheap steals in deeper leagues. However, since they’ll presumably be splitting time, neither seems like a very good choice.
  • LAA Center Fielder #12
Pillar won’t be benefitting from Jo Adell’s injury, as he joins the youngster on the injured list. Pillar has indicated that he’s probably retiring after the season, so this might be it for him. He was batting .242/.298/.392 in 286 plate appearances this season.
