Jonnu Smith caught 1-of-2 targets for seven yards in the Dolphins’ Week 1 win against the Jaguars.

Smith ran a route on just 19 of the Dolphins’ 48 drop backs on the day. He functioned primarily as a blocking fullback after Miami listed him as a fullback on the team’s official depth chart. It’s hard to see a path to fantasy usefulness for Smith in 2024.
Raheem Mostert

Raheem Mostert had six rushes for nine yards in the Dolphins’ Week 1 win against the Jaguars, adding two catches for ten yards.

Mostert dealt with some sort of arm injury in the first half but didn’t miss significant time. He lost out to De’Von Achane on a short first half touchdown and was the secondary pass catching backfield option. It’s possible Mostert will take a backseat to Achane this season after taking many of the team’s high value touches, especially in the red zone, in 2023.

Tyreek Hill caught 7-of-12 targets for 130 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins’ Week 1 win against the Jaguars.

Hill, who was detained by police on his way to the stadium on Sunday morning, was held in check for the entire first half. He finally popped off with an 80-yard catch and run that catapulted the Dolphins to a comeback win over Jacksonville. 80 of Hill’s 130 yards came after the catch, a staple of the Mike McDaniels offense. Hill should continue operating as a target hog in Week 2 against a shaky Bills secondary.
De'Von Achane

De’Von Achane had 10 rushes for 25 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins’ Week 1 win against the Jaguars, adding seven catches for 75 yards.

Achane played 55 percent of Miami’s offense snaps while Raheem Mostert — who dealt with a shoulder injury in the first half — saw 45 percent of the snaps. Mostert logged six carries while Jeff Wilson saw five. Achane scored on a one-yard plunge after nearly scoring a short receiving touchdown in the first half. Achane ran a route on 58 percent of the team’s drop backs and was second in targets behind Tyreek Hill. It’s encouraging that Achane struggled as a rusher and still had a solid statistical day. He’ll be a top-12 option next week against Buffalo.

Jaylen Waddle caught all five of his targets for 108 yards in the Dolphins’ Week 1 win against the Jaguars.

Waddle missed much of the second quarter while being evaluated for a brain injury but came back in the second half and had a couple long gainers. Waddle and Tyreek Hill combined for 18 of the Dolphins’ 37 targets on the day. Waddle should continue running as the team’s 1B option in Week 2 against the Bills.

Tua Tagovailoa completed 23-of-39 pass attempts for 329 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins’ 20-17 Week 1 win against the Jaguars, adding one rush for 11 yards.

Tagovailoa struggled a bit in the first half and missed a couple would-be long gains to his speedy wideouts. He mostly checked down to De’Von Achane and other short-area targets until the Dolphins were down multiple scores. Tua in the third quarter finally hit Tyreek Hill in stride for an 80-yard score. Nearly 68 percent of Tua’s passing yards came after the catch, the highest rate of Week 1 so far. After losing significant weight in the offseason, Tua appeared more agile and able to move outside the pocket — a potential boon for everyone in the Miami offense. Tua gets a suspect Bills defense in Week 2.
Jaylen Waddle

Jaylen Waddle (concussion) is questionable to return in Week 1 against the Jaguars.

Waddle entered the blue injury tent after a first down reception midway through the second quarter. He appeared dazed, forcing refs to tell the Miami trainers to evaluate Waddle for a brain injury. He remains sidelined late in the second quarter.

Tyreek Hill is active for Week 1 against the Jaguars.

Hill was pulled over and detained by police on his way to the stadium this morning. He was cited for reckless driving and got into a verbal altercation with police officers before they arrested him on the side of the road. Hill will suit up for opening day against Jacksonville and resume his role as the Dolphins’ clear-cut No. 1 wideout.

Dolphins declared RB Jaylen Wright, CB Ethan Bonner, LB Channing Tindall, LB Mo Kamara, OL Andrew Meyer, and WR Malik Washington inactive for Week 1 against the Jaguars.

Wright, the highly-touted rookie, doesn’t make the opening day active roster, meaning De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert will dominate touches in the Miami backfield, as they did in 2023. The Dolphins will be without impressive rookie WR Malik Washington too. Look for Robbie Chosen and Braxton Berrios to split reps as the team’s WR3.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Tyreek Hill was detained by police after a traffic incident this morning but is available for today’s game.

Per Rapoport, Hill was pulled over by police about one block from the Dolphins’ stadium. He was briefly detained but has since arrived at the field. ESPN’s Jeff Darlington shed some light on the situation, reporting Hill was cited for reckless driving and got into a verbal altercation with police before being placed in handcuffs. Per Darlington, “He was cited and released after the situation was de-escalated.” Hill and some teammates who witnessed the incident have all made it to the stadium and are available for Week 1.
