Mundt and Josh Oliver played to a standstill in T.J. Hockenson’s absence. For now, we haven’t seen enough to declare Mundt a TE2 streaming candidate.

Nailor’s third quarter score was his lone target. This, despite the fact that Jordan Addison missed most of the second half after re-injuring his ankle. Disappointing, though Addison seems all but certain to miss Week 2 against the 49ers, putting Nailor in the WR4/5 desperation mix. It’s worth noting the third-year pro was literally not covered on his score as Justin Jefferson served as a decoy.

8moTy Chandler rushed eight times for 17 yards in the Vikings’ Week 1 win over the Bears, adding three receptions for 25 yards.

Chandler handled the ball 11 times to Aaron Jones’ 16. The second half was not competitive, but Chandler’s touches were not garbage time inflated. He actually took the rock more times in the first half (six) than second. Chandler is a high-upside contingency back nevertheless struggling for standalone value at the moment.

8moAaron Jones rushed 14 times for 94 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings’ Week 1 win over the Giants, adding two receptions for 15 yards.

Jones’ three-yard touchdown was a bounce job where he found the outside seam. Jones looked spry and powerful in his Vikings debut, bouncing right back up from a few big hits. He out-touched Ty Chandler “just’ 16-11, but the non-competitive Giants sat on the ball for much of the second half. The 49ers are a tough Week 2 matchup for the Vikings’ offense, but Jones will remain locked into the RB18-20 range.

8moJustin Jefferson caught 4-of-6 targets for 59 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings’ Week 1 win over the Giants.

Jefferson almost certainly would have had a much bigger statistical effort had the Giants put up any fight whatsoever on the other side. As it was, J-Jeff had to settle for a 44-yard drop-in-the-bucket dime from Sam Darnold and three-yard score on a second quarter fourth down where Darnold nailed Jefferson on a slant. The other big development today was Jordan Addison re-injuring his ankle. That further enhances Jefferson’s targets outlook, though the 49ers are a tough Week 2 matchup.

That at least tells us Addison wasn’t on crutches after re-injuring his ankle. An MRI still seems inevitable after Addison departed in the third quarter Sunday. Maybe the Vikes and fantasy managers will get lucky, but it seems extremely unlikely Addison suits up for Week 2 against the 49ers.

8moSam Darnold completed 19-of-28 passes for 208 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the Vikings’ 28-6, Week 1 win over the Giants.

Darnold completed his first 10 passes and likely would have had a much bigger day statistically had the Giants been competitive at all. He found each of Justin Jefferson, Josh Oliver and Jalen Nailor for completions of 20-plus yards, and averaged 8.7 yards per attempt despite losing Jordan Addison to an ankle re-injury. That was the only real negative development this afternoon. Darnold’s scores were a fourth down end-zone slant to Jefferson and wide-open 21-yard toss to Nailor. His pick was a dead dove after he was crushed in the pocket. Darnold looked like someone who could be streamer-worthy in plus matchups, but unfortunately the 49ers are anything but for Week 2.

8moJordan Addison suffered an ankle injury in Minnesota’s Week 1 game against the Giants and will not return.

Addison had rushed back surprisingly quickly from his mid-August high-ankle sprain, but re-rolled it early in the third quarter and was immediately ruled out. Not good. He could now be looking at a trip to injured reserve. Jalen Nailor is the next man up. Addison had three catches for 35 yards before going down.

8moVikings declared QB Brett Rypien, CB Fabian Moreau, DB Dwight McGlothern, WR Trishton Jackson, DT Levi Drake Rodriguez, DT Jalen Redmond and OT Walter Rouse inactive for Week 1 against the Giants.

There’s frankly not a lot going on here for a healthy team. Hopefully that remains the case for Week 2.

Gaskin is expected to play primarily on special teams while offering some depth behind Aaron Jones and Ty Chandler. The Vikings carried only two running backs on the 53-man roster through cut downs, making the recent signing of Gaskin and his ability to also contribute on special teams a priority.
