According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Magic have signed Mac McClung to a partially guaranteed contract.

For the second consecutive fall, McClung will go through training camp with the Magic. However, unlike last year, his contract will be partially guaranteed. While known primarily for his dunk contest prowess, McClung has made strides as a player. Playing for the Osceola Magic, he won G League MVP honors last season. In 27 games, he averaged 25.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.3 steals in 35.4 minutes, shooting 50.9% from the field. McClung’s unlikely to impact fantasy basketball next season, but he’ll have another opportunity to earn an NBA roster spot.

Franz Wagner went for 18 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals as Germany fell to Serbia 93-83 in Saturday’s Bronze Medal game.

Wagner led his team in the loss, turning in a strong performance outside of the poor 5-of-14 shooting mark. His brother Mo dropped 16 points, and Dennis Schroder turned in a 13/4/6 line with six turnovers. Germany took home the FIBA World Cup championship last season by defeating Serbia in the final, but Nikola Jokic and Serbia got the last laugh in this one.

Franz Wagner led Germany with 18 points (8-of-17 FGs, 1-of-2 FTs) three rebounds, two assists, three steals, and one three-pointer in a win.

Franz carried the offensive load for a German team that struggled to put the ball in the basket early on. It was far from his best scoring performance during the tournament, but it was enough to overcome Greece’s inferior talent. Germany is advancing to the semifinals.

Franz Wagner finished Friday’s 85-71 win over France with 26 points (8-of-15 FGs, 8-of-8 FTs), five rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block, and two 3-pointers in 33 minutes.

Wagner and Dennis Schroder led the way for Germany, combining to score 52 of the team’s 85 points in Friday’s impressive victory. Franz was better from beyond the arc (2-of-5) than he was in his first two games in Paris, combining to go just 2-of-14 in wins over Japan and Brazil. While he may not be a player who fantasy managers will use a top-50 pick on in drafts, Wagner can undoubtedly provide that level of production in Orlando next season. Before that, he’ll look to help lead Germany to its first-ever Olympic medal in men’s basketball.

Franz Wagner accumulated 17 points (7-of-15 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), four rebounds, three assists, four steals, and one block in Tuesday’s 86-73 win over Brazil.

Wagner played 31 minutes on Tuesday, with the lone issue being poor shooting from beyond the arc. The Magic star missed all six 3-point attempts and is 2-of-14 in two games in Paris. There’s no need to be concerned, as Wagner does enough to contribute even if his shots aren’t falling. His play will be critical if Germany, which won the FIBA World Cup last summer, is to add an Olympic gold medal to its coffers.

Franz Wagner led Germany with 22 points (9-of-17 FGs), six rebounds, one assist, one block and two triples in a 97-77 win over Japan on Saturday.

Less than a month after agrees to a five-year, $224 million extension from Orlando, Wagner is leading Germany in the Olympics. He was their leading scorer in this game and will continue to be one of their best players as they look to hold on to their title as the best in the world after winning the gold medal at the FIBA World Cup last summer. Hopefully Wagner will be able to carry some of this success into the regular season in a few months.

ORL Shooting Guard #13

Jeff Howard shot 6-of-14 from the field and 6-of-9 from the foul line in Wednesday’s 104-98 loss to Memphis, tallying 21 points, one rebound, three assists, and three 3-pointers in 29 minutes.

Howard has surpassed the 20-point mark in two of his three games in Las Vegas, providing needed offensive production as one of Orlando’s more experienced players in summer league. He could not crack the regular season rotation as a rookie, and the signing of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will make that task difficult in 2024-23. However, Howard appears better equipped to compete than he was last year.

According to a report from Hoops Hype’s Michael Scotto, Joseph is signing a two-year deal with Orlando.

Joseph averaged 11.4 points per game for the Warriors last season. The reserve guard will likely have a hard time finding significant minutes next season, though. The Magic added Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to a backcourt group that includes Jalen Suggs, Cole Anthony, Gary Harris, and Anthony Black. Fantasy managers shouldn’t expect Joseph to be an impact player any time soon.

According to a report from The Orlando Sentinel, Black suffered the injury during his last Summer League outing. He won’t play against the Timberwolves on Wednesday.

Black posted a modest five points and six assists in his last Summer League performance. His absence will give other guards more of a chance to impact games.

ORL Shooting Guard #13

Jett Howard finished Sunday’s 91-86 win over New Orleans with 14 points (6-of-14 FGs), three assists, and two 3-pointers in 28 minutes.

After scoring 22 points in Friday’s blowout of the Cavaliers, Howard had another solid performance on Sunday. While he could potentially add value as a 3-point shooter, cracking the rotation became more difficult when the Magic signed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in free agency. However, Howard’s play in Las Vegas should get him on the radar regarding the competition for bench minutes. He doesn’t need to be selected in most redraft leagues, but there is some late-round dynasty value.
