Reported but unannounced moves

Sterling, Sancho, Broja, and Nelson have all been announced by their new teams, leaving just one move yet to be confirmed as of 9:30pm ET

  • Trevoh Chalobah to Crystal Palace

We’re calling it a night. Sorry, Trevoh. We trust we’ll see your smiling face near an eagle in the morning... Oh, and here it is!

Everton adding Broja?

Reiss Nelson reportedly bailed on an Ipswich Town move for Fulham, and now Armando Broja may be doing the same to join Everton. A deal sheet has been reported, so again we wait. Broja, if healthy, can give Everton a handful up top as Dominic Calvert-Lewin has struggled to refind his finishing form.

Raheem Sterling to Arsenal, Ivan Toney latest

Raheem Sterling’s loan move to Arsenal from Chelsea is on, according to Fabrizio Romano. Will the move work? Read the full story here.

Ivan Toney is also making the move to Saudi Arabia with Al Ahli, where he’ll join Roberto Firmino and be a massive handful for Middle Eastern back lines.

Jadon Sancho to Chelsea latest

Sky Sports reports that Chelsea have filed a deal sheet for Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho. That gives them a few hours after the 6pm ET end of the window to finish the transfer. It’s said to be a loan with an option to buy. Read the full story here.

Transfer window closed (but...)

Officially, it’s after 11pm local time in England, but clubs could still have completed moves that are yet unannounced.

Another Arsenal forward moves but not where predicted!

Reiss Nelson was said to be on the move to Ipswich Town, but Sky Sports says Fulham has convinced the 24-year-old to stay in London. Nelson has eight goals and nine assists in 90 first team appearances for the Gunners, and had solid loans to Feyenoord and Hoffenheim as well. It’s an offer sheet and it allows an extra couple of hours for Fulham to get the move over the line.

Eddie Nketiah swapping Arsenal for Crystal Palace

Eddie Nketiah is getting his chance to prove he’s a nailed-on starting forward. Nketiah, still just 25, will move to Selhurst Park on a reported $40 million transfer. Capped once by England, the forward has appeared 168 times for Arsenal and scored 38 goals with seven assists. He struck five times with two assists in under 1,100 Premier League minutes last season, a 15-goal return over a full season’s minutes.

Andre moves to Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers needed more difference makers, and it believe it’s acquired a big one in Brazilian midfielder Andre of Fluminense. Andre, 23, is an excellent ball mover from deep-lying positions. The deal is said to cost around $28 million for a player with 200 matches under his belt, and a growing career with the Brazil national team. He did not play in Copa America but three of his five caps came in World Cup qualifying.

Manuel Ugarte move confirmed

This is a big win for Erik ten Hag, who gets a player to throw haymakers in his midfield at the perfect age. Manuel Ugarte, 23, can both learn from and supplant Casemiro in the United midfield. The Uruguayan arrives from PSG for no small fee and means Ten Hag has added at least one big piece of his team at all three levels of his team this window after fullback Noussair Mazraoui, center back Matthijs de Ligt, and forward Joshua Zirkzee signed deals.

The move that required Scott McTominay’s exit will come with big-time pressure, but Ugarte joins Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro in giving Ten Hag real combination options in the midfield. Ugarte is another player who can allow Bruno Fernandes the freedom he needs to be his best in the midfield.

USMNT man on the move from England to Scotland

Former Premier League man Auston Trusty is moving to greener pastures after Sheffield United’s relegation from the English top fllght. And by greener pastures, we mean a greener shirt. Trusty turned 26 earlier this month and reportedly cost Celtic around $7 million. He can partner with Cameron Carter-Vickers in the Bhoys back line as they fight for another Scottish title. Trusty had been chewing up minutes for Chris Wilder early this season but now he’ll move to a Champions League side and play for Brendan Rodgers. And the idea of him playing with another USMNT center back ahead of the World Cup sure sounds great to us.

Latest on Raheem Sterling — Arsenal exploring loan

This makes sense.

Mikel Arteta worked with Raheem Sterling at Manchester City and there are few clubs who could work out the right wage split or ownership in order to bring Sterling in on short notice. Arteta wouldn’t remark on Sterling specifically earlier this week but the 29-year-old has a great reputation and true motivation to get back into the England squad. Playing as at-worst a depth piece for Arteta with Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli would be more playing time than the zero he’s guaranteed at Chelsea. This could definitely happen, and makes more sense than Man United acquiring a player who’s tormented them on historic rivals Liverpool and Man City.

Crystal Palace capture Wolfsburg back Maxence Lacroix

It’s a five-year deal on a center back who checks every box shy of Premier League experience. Lacroix, 24, reunites with ex-Wolfsburg boss Oliver Glasner on a deal that starts around $24 million and could end up around $28 million. He’s hard-tackling, a monster in the air, and has good ball skills. He might be less of an offensive threat than Marc Guehi, but he may be better everywhere else and a good fit (although both are right-footed).

Everton add Orel Mangala on loan

Yes, the same Orel Mangala who was with Nottingham Forest for much of last season and moved to Lyon this summer after a half-season loan to the French side in February. The 26-year-old Belgian made 44 Premier League appearances with Forest, and will return to the Premier League with Everton on a season-long loan. Can he fill the hole made by Amadou Onana’s move to Aston Villa?

Nottingham Forest make move for DC United’s Kristian Fletcher

Forest are making another loan for a U.S. youth international, this one a bit lower of a profile than Giovanni Reyna. Kristian Fletcher is coming over from DC United, where he made 28 appearances. It’s a loan with an option-to-buy, and Fletcher will start with Forest’s B team. He did the same with Swansea City last season without the option. Fletcher is 19 and has two caps for the U.S. U-19s.

USMNT’s Cardoso to Tottenham in the future?

Well, this is a cool potential deal for USMNT fans. According to Fabrizio Romano, as part of a deal for Gio Lo Celso to join Real Betis, Tottenham have agreed to get the first option on USMNT holding midfielder Johnny Cardoso. Another report from Tom Bogert says that the transfer fee for Cardoso is $33 million. That means that if any other club comes in for Cardoso, Spurs will have the first option and they will also have a percentage of any fee Betis get for Cardoso if they sell him and Spurs decide not to buy him. Not quite a USMNT player heading to Spurs, but why go to all of that trouble if they don’t rate him and see him as a likely target for the future?

7 hours to go - Raheem Sterling to stay at Chelsea?

It appears that Raheem Sterling could be sticking around at Chelsea after all. Our partners in the UK at Sky Sports are saying there is a ‘real possibility’ Sterling could remain at Chelsea beyond deadline day. Even after Sterling was told he was not part of Chelsea’s plans and had his No. 7 shirt given to Pedro Neto, it appears the winger has nowhere to go with a move to Manchester United or Arsenal seeming very unlikely. This is quite something. Could Sterling be reintegrated into the Chelsea squad after all of this?

Chelsea ‘submit official bid’ to Manchester United for Jadon Sancho as permanent option arrives

Well now, this is getting interesting. A report from Fabrizio Romano says that Chelsea have sent an official offer to Manchester United to sign Jadon Sancho. Per the report, the offer is for an initial loan deal and David Ornstein has added to that report by saying the deal is an initial loan deal with an obligation for Chelsea to buy Sancho next summer.

Sancho isn’t going to play at United, so a move away was always likely before the deadline. It makes sense for United and for Sancho, but does this move make sense for Chelsea? They already have so many attacking players, especially out wide, that adding Sancho to the mix seems pretty unnecessary. Maybe it’s part of a deal for Sterling to head the opposite way? That deal for Sterling to head to Untied seems unlikely now, but maybe the wheels are being put into motion with a few hours to go...

Armando Broja could be heading to Ipswich

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna has been speaking about the possibility of signing Chelsea’s Armando Broja on loan and confirmed talks are ongoing for the Albanian striker. “There’s been discussions with Armando, that’s not a secret. It’s not a secret that he’s got an injury issue. The clubs are ongoing with discussions, it has to be the right thing for all parties,” McKenna confirmed. “We will see what’s right and hopefully the best resolution will be found by this evening.” Broja has Premier League experience and if this injury issue (he is expected to keep him out until October) is not a big problem, he will certainly add a focal point to Ipswich’s attack. Broja, still just 22, is talented and just needs games.

Which Premier League teams have ‘won’ or ‘lost’ the summer window?

As the deals take a bit of a breather after a busy morning (after all, it’s lunchtime over here in the UK and agents, managers and directors have to refuel!), let’s take a bit of time to reflect on the business done overall this summer. Which Premier League clubs have done the best business? Which teams have struggled and now have a weaker squad?

Marc Guehi will not be leaving Crystal Palace

Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Marc Guehi will not be leaving Crystal Palace to join Newcastle on deadline day. The Crystal Palace was asked about Guehi leaving after Newcastle had tabled several bids for the England defender this summer. But he said he could confirm that Guehi will not be sold and added the following: “It was never really in doubt. Congrats to Crystal Palace, to the chairman, to the owners, they didn’t give in,” Glasner said. The Austrian coach went on to say that Guehi was not pushing for a move and after selling Joachim Andersen to Fulham, Palace did not want to sell the center back. It has been reported elsewhere that Palace wanted $92 million for Guehi.

Raheem Sterling to Arsenal?

Mikel Arteta has refused to talk about specific players, as he always does, and he’s asked about the possibility of Raheem Sterling joining Chelsea and bats it away. There are reports from Fabrizio Romano that Sterling has been offered to Arsenal and the hierarchy at the club have been discussing the potential deal.

First big move of Deadline Day confirmed - Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton from Arsenal

This is a big one for Southampton. England international goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has joined them from Arsenal on a four-year contract. Ramsdale, 26, lost his starting spot at Arsenal to David Raya last season and a move always seemed likely this summer. Southampton have pulled off a major coup here to get Ramsdale, with the reported fee $23.7 million with up to $9.2 million in add ons. Ramsdale will be a number one goalkeeper in the Premier League, suits Southampton’s possession-based style perfectly and is hungry to push for England’s No. 1 shirt. This move did not seem likely up until yesterday due to the finances involved, but Southampton have pounced and Ramsdale seems delighted to move on from sitting on the bench for Arsenal. Also, to explain the Hagrid inspired announcement: Ramsdale attended Southampton’s playoff final victory against Leeds at Wembley back in May dressed as Hagrid to support his close friend David Brooks who was playing for Saints. Attending a Wembley final in fancy dress was a tradition Ramsdale and his close group of friends started a few years back whenever one of them would get to play there. Three months later Ramsdale will be in goal for Southampton rather than watching them in the stands dressed as Hagrid. Remarkable.

Jadon Sancho to Chelsea is ON as talks continue

Okay, the dominoes are starting to fall. According to Fabrizio Romano, Jadon Sancho has given the green light to a move to Chelsea and talks are taking place between the two clubs. Does that mean that Raheem Sterling is heading the other way? I’m not sure United need another winger given all of the options they have in attack.

In USMNT transfer news, Matt Turner is heading to Crystal Palace

Our partners in the UK at Sky Sports are reporting that USMNT goalkeeper Matt Turner is heading to Crystal Palace on loan from Nottingham Forest. Turner is not in Forest’s plans and he will be a back-up for Dean Henderson at Palace. It’s a decent spot for Turner who has more chance of minutes at Palace than he does at Forest, and he will scrap with Henderson for the starting spot.

Neto set to join Arsenal on loan from Bournemouth

With Aaron Ramsdale set to sign for Southampton, Arsenal need a new back-up goalkeeper. They looked set to sign Joan Garcia from Espanyol but it appears that deal has collapsed, so according to Fabrizio Romano they’ve made a loan move for Neto from Bournemouth. The Brazilian goalkeeper is set to join on a straight season-long loan deal as Bournemouth signed Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea on loan. Truly a move which works well for everyone.

Big news early on Deadline Day as Al Ahli move for Toney and Osimhen

Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli have gone big on strikers and it has been reported by The Athletic that Ivan Toney will sign a three-year contract after a $52.7 million transfer fee has been agreed with Brentford. It has also been widely reported that Al Ahli have also agreed to sign Napoli Victor Osimhen. Fabrizio Romano is saying that the clubs have agreed a deal but Osimhen, who is also a target for Chelsea, is yet to agree personal terms. There are also reports out there from our partners in the UK at Sky Sports that Al Ahli won’t be able to sign both Toney and Osimhen due to rules around foreign players in the Saudi Pro League, so perhaps Chelsea could arrive late in the window to sign one of them? This is the big story to keep an eye on.
